Check out my Twitch Overlay

In the above video, I go over my general Twitch overlay / interface for League of Legends. I just wanted to show what is going on with my stream because it might be a bit overwhelming at first. This is also kind of an introductory to my mIRC scripting tutorials which I will come out with later. There is not a whole lot of info out there for scripting against Twitch so I thought I would share what I learned making my bots. Here is a rundown of what I have created for my stream:

TechaCommentary

This is not really a bot, but there is some scripting involved. This script allows me to use the numpad keys to show various memes on the stream. The idea is that I can show Success Kid when I do something good or a Fail logo when I fail and so on. Right now this is just some hacked together scripts. I will have a future video showing how to do this yourself, but in the future I would like to create a customizable application which other users could easily use.

TechaCheer

I want my users to be able to participate in my stream, so I created TechaCheer. Entering commands !cheer, !boo, or !love will show different pictures on the screen. The more users which enter those commands in a shot time period, the longer the picture stays up. So if five users enter !cheer, the Cheer picture will stay up for five seconds before disappearing.

TechaMud (Drunk of Legends)

When I first started to learn to program on my dad’s Tandy 1000, I started making little text based RPG games. Later, I learned about Multi User Dungeons (MUDs), and got really interested in those. When I started scripting in mIRC, I needed a big project that would force me to learn more about the scripting language, so I of course decided to make a RPG dungeon crawler using bot commands and called it Drunk of Legends. Basically, you roll a character (Hipster, Gamer Chic, et.c) and hang out in bars, buy drinks, play games, gamble, and try to stay alive! I will discuss the ins and outs of this game in a future post. The script which runs the game is called TechaMud, and the bot who responds to the commands is TechaBot. I call the game something different, Drunk of Legends, because I may decide to spin off different games later and I also would like to change the title if I’m playing something other than League of Legends.

TechaDrunk

This is a bot I created that acts like a person playing the Drunk of Legends game. He will say random things, play games, and ultimately drink himself to death before respawning to do it all over again. Also you will notice that in my overlay there is a section at the bottom labeled Drinks, Drunk, and has an 8 bit pixelated picture of me. This is TechaDrunk. As he drinks, you will see his Drink and Drunk count go up, and the picture will even change as he gets more drunk! I did my best to mimic the style of old school Wolfenstein, but Photoshop is not my thing as you can tell.
